HOUSTON -- Two young men were taken into custody early Wednesday following a chase that ended in a crash in southeast Houston, police said.
Around 2:30 a.m. an officer with the Houston Police Department said a pickup ran a red light on Airport at Monroe.
The officer said the driver refused to stop and led him on a short pursuit down a dirt road to a dead end. The truck crashed into a tree, and the driver jumped out and ran. The man was quickly taken into custody, however.
A passenger in the truck was also taken into custody.
Police said the driver faces multiple charges.
Investigators determined the truck was just stolen from a nearby apartment complex, and tools used in the theft were found in the vehicle.
