HUNTSVILLE, Texas It s the calm before the winter storm roads slick from rain could become treacherous once temperatures start to drop Thursday evening as part of a Winter Weather Warning.

The Texas Department of Transports has trucks that are ready to roll out, as soon as the temperature hits freezing. Folks here are in for a long night and a very messy morning.

Forecasts calling for a mix of sleet, ice and snow have drivers bracing for worst.

I m gonna stay at home....not even try. I m just gonna stay warm and stay home, Chris Gessner said.

TxDOT s trucks, which are filled with magnesium chloride, are ready to roll once the winter weather moves in. Crews will be working all night trying to keep major roads from freezing.

Teacher Patricia Archie is still waiting on word, on whether she ll have school on Friday. If the roads ice over, she s hoping to stay home and be off the roads.

Don t like driving in it, that s the main thing, Archie said.

Luckily for Archie, Huntsville ISD announced that they have cancelled classes for Friday. Sam Houston State University officials said they will make decision in the morning.
