PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) -- Jabari Peters scored 26 points, with 15 coming at the line, as Sam Houston State escaped with a 108-103 double overtime win against Prairie View on Thursday night.

Sam Houston State made 16-of-19 free throws in the two overtimes to secure the win. Two free throws by Peters and another by Thomas put Sam Houston up 106-100 with 22 seconds to play.

Kaheem Ransom scored 19 points for Sam Houston (3-0), Terrance Motley had 14, Paul Baxter added 13 and James Thomas 10. It s the best start for Sam Houston since the 2008 season.

Both teams were lights out from the field. The Bearkats hit 52.4 percent of their shots and Prairie View 52.9.

Sam Houston held a 45-33 advantage on the boards in a game that saw 17 ties and 15 lead changes.
