BOERNE, Texas -- The Tapatio Springs Golf Resort is co-owned by country music superstar George Strait and Texas businessman Tom Cusick. Over the weekend, the third annual Vaqueros del Mar Invitational Golf Tournament and Auction took place at the resort.

The fundraiser brought in $425,000 in just 30 minutes.

The money benefits David Feherty's Troops First Foundation. The organization provides various services to military members who were wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

During the live auction, George Strait removed his boots and added them to a package deal which sold for $130,000 alone.

The weekend came to an end when Strait held an impromptu private concert for more than 450 invited guests. Strait and Cusick were presented with an American flag used during operations Enduring Freedom and Proper Exit in Afghanistan.

It was a proper way to start the week for Strait, who went on to win the coveted 'Entertainer of the Year' award at the Country Music Awards Wednesday night in Nashville. It was the third time he's received the honor.

Strait also supports Homes 4 Wounded Heroes, a program that awards mortgage-free homes to wounded military heroes and their families. Recently, 23 heroes were given the keys to their dream home, including two service members living in the San Antonio area.
