HOUSTON One person was wounded in a shooting outside of a party in north Houston early Sunday, deputies said.

According to the Harris County Sheriff s Office, deputies responded to a call of a shooting at 12:15 a.m. in the parking lot of a shopping center, located in the 2300 block of Aldine Westfield near FM 1960.

When deputies arrived, they found a male victim shot once in the jaw.

The victim was transported to Ben Taub in serious but stable condition, deputies said.

Investigators said there was a party being held in the Dance Studio, which had been rented out for the social gathering.

The owner of the Dance Studio said this is the first time that she had rented out the facility for such an event. The renters were given a limit to the amount of people that would be allowed to attend.

She said there was twice the amount of people agreed upon, so she called the sheriff s office.

While deputies were en route to the party, something happened in the parking lot. Witnesses said guns were drawn and several people were shooting.

There were about 30 to 40 shell casings in the parking lot, investigators said.

The shooter fled the scene, and there are no suspects in custody. The victim said he does not know who shot him, and investigators do not know if it was intentional.

The owner of the studio said the teens at the party are from Nimitz High School and Teague Middle School.
