HOUSTON - Officials with Metro were investigating a collision between a sedan and a bus on Houston s southside early Wednesday.

According to METRO, five passengers in the bus were sent to the hospital to get checked out.

The driver of the car was put in a neck brace and was sent to the hospital by ambulance.

According to Metro spokeswoman Margaret O Brien, the crash occurred in the 7000 block of Scott Street around 6:50 a.m. A Lexus sedan apparently struck the back of the bus, causing damage to both vehicles.

It happened near a school zone, and several of the bus passengers appeared to be school-aged children.

The cause of the accident was not immediately determined.
