HOUSTON Families waited for hours Thursday inside the cruise terminal for a chance to hear their loved ones on the phone after days of no news.
It was the first day passengers saw land and were able to make a call.
Mike Padilla said he hadn t talked to his wife since Monday.
Everybody is just anxious to get off the boat and have reliable bathrooms, he said.
One woman said her experience wasn t as bad as some, like the stories KHOU 11 News heard via phone from Nick Burge.
Two of the people in my party, their room had the toilet explode and their clothes were ruined, he said.
His parents drove in from Houston and were waiting for the ship and to see Nick s video of his unplanned adventure.
All he said was, you can t even imagine nothing on the news describes what s going on on this ship, he said.
Nick said he s had moments of disbelief on the trip and will never take a Carnival cruise again.
When the power went out we realized we were in the middle of the ocean and there s nothing we can do you know and it was scary it was really, really scary, he said.
