FULSHEAR, Texas -- Officers with the Fulshear Police Departmentsaid aburning body was found in a field Monday morning.

Police said the body of a female was found in the 6000 block of Katy Fulshear Road around 10:30 a.m.A rancher from the Katy area was driving by and called police when he saw the flames.

An autopsy was performed by the Galveston County Medical Examiner s Office.

Investigators have determined the victim is possibly 20 to 30 years of age, approximately 5 0 to 5 2 inches tall, and very petite. She has dark colored hair with possible red tint. The victim has had extensive dental work in the past. The victim was wearing jeans, red top, and a belt with several metal rivet designs.

Investigators located a small necklace pendant on the victim that may help in identifying the victim.

Based on the results of the autopsy, the cause of death was due to possibly blunt trauma to the body and possibly strangulation.

Chief Kenny Seymour said his department is checking with all area counties for reports of missing persons. As of Tuesday afternoon, there were no solid leads.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office was also assisting in trying to identify the woman, Seymour said.
