HOUSTON Charges were filed against a man who allegedly killed a woman after luring her and her two friends to an apartment complex in north Houston on June 10.

Antwoine Jermaine Betters, 24, was charged with capital murder in the death of Camille Ross.

Police said Ross, who was also 24, and two other women were visiting from Austin and wanted to buy marijuana.

They met up with Betters and two other men, then followed them to an apartment complex in the 200 block of Rosamond at Dowber.

Instead of selling the women drugs, the men pulled out guns and demanded their money and cell phones, according to police.

Ross was shot in the chest, despite giving the suspects what they wanted. She died at the scene.

The other two were unharmed.

They re over there arguing about their purse and stuff, and I see the other lady come out here and next thing you know I just heard a bang. It was a shotgun, said Jose Benitez, a witness.

Betters fled with the other two men in a newer-model, black Dodge quad cab pickup truck.He remains at large and is believed to have relatives in the Waco area.
