Fifteen years ago on October 23, 2008 will mark the date that the Jefferson Davis High School Football team won their first game after the 80 game losing streak.

These alumni athletes will be recognized at the Friday night game against Waltrip on October 24 at Dyer Stadium. The Panthers are now at 5-0 and still has the number one spot in District 21-4A.Two weeks ago; Jeff Davis made history beating Yates for the first time in 29 years.

Last year Davis went 7-3 and in 2007 the Davis Panthers went to the playoffs. Not only are these players showing hard work on the field but in the classroom as well. We have 100% attendance for tutorials on Tuesday's and Wednesday's. Through hard work and plenty of heart, these boys are history makers.

Homecoming is a big tradition at Jeff Davis. This year the homecoming game is on Saturday, October 18th against long standing rival Reagan High School at 1pm at Delmar. Last year Davis had over 2,000 fans at homecoming and plan to double it this year.

We will be having a pep rally on Friday for the players and the 5th Paw. Our homecoming game has become a game where our feeder pattern has taken an active roll by sending buses full of kids to the game.

The most ironic thing about our anniversary is not having the longest losing streak in the nation but that our football team will be undefeated when we honor the tenacity of our 1993 team.

They will be honored while our football tries to remain undefeated and will go down in our record books as the only undefeated team since the 1940s.
