QUEENSLAND, Au. -- Sea World rescuers and Australian authorities have work tirelessly to free a beached humpback whale calf, stranded in roughly 11 inches of water on a Gold Coast beach around the Palm Bay area on July 8, 2014. The team worked throughout the afternoon and into the night, and Sea World rescue staff is staying with the calf through the evening.

Authorities have said the calf is in good condition, and are doing their best to minimize the whale's stress by keeping crowds to a minimum. The team is planning on resuming their work in the morning.
