HOUSTON -- Several residents were forced out of their townhomes early Tuesday morning following a fire in southwest Houston.

It was reported around 1 a.m. on Regency Square Court.

The first Houston Fire Department firefighters on the scene found heavy smoke coming from the garage of one of the units. They made a fast attack and knocked out the flames.

The couple in the affected townhome made it out safe along with their two dogs.

Five other townhomes filled with smoke.

The cause is under investigation.
