HOUSTON, Texas The owner of a west Houston hobby store is hopingsurveillance video will help catch a man who attempted to steal a high-end model car.

I felt in my gut something was wrong with this guy, said Jarrett Crump, the owner of RC Hobbies on the Katy Freeway. He said he needed a ride, his brother was supposed tomeet him here, he gave us a sob story.

Crump and his employee called the man a cab and even gave him$20 for a fare.

The man thenrepaid him by grabbing a $600 model car and running outside the store, he said.

Crump and a customer chased the crook out of the business. The man got away after tossing the remote controlled car up on the roof of a nearby IHOP.

The incident was caught on surveillance camera, but police said there wasn t much theycould do unless the suspect was identified.

So the businessownerhas plastered theman s face onsocial media and on posters, andis also offering a $250 reward.

Crump is asking anyone with information to email him at houstonwest@rc-hobbies.com. He ll forward the information to detectives.

I want this guy caught, said Crump. It makes me mad.
