HOUSTON Houston firefighters have contained a two-alarm building fire that broke out at a church in The Heights Wednesday afternoon.

Air 11 video showed large flames shooting from the roof of the Heights Presbyterian Church located along West 18th near Rutland. The fire started around 12:30 p.m.

By 1:30 p.m., firefighters were able to contain the fire, but substantial damage to the roof could be seen from Air 11. Heavy fire and smoke damaged the interior of the church, Houston Fire Department officials said.

There was no word on what caused the fire.

We suspect arson, said church Elder TerryMyers.

Myers said the church's alarm was sounded about 15 minutes before the fire broke out.

Travin Roquemore, the Pastor of the Beacon Light Outreach Ministry agreed.

Our church was broken in on Saturday and they took speakers, and now this today, said Roquemore. You add 1 and 1 you get 2.

No injuries were reported.

The HFD Arson Bureau is investigating the fire.
