HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- Men armed with guns and knives forced their way into a north Harris County home early Tuesday and tied up the family inside, deputies said.
It was reported in the 8500 block of Karen Street, according to deputies with the Harris County Sheriff s Office.
A couple told deputies the suspects were wearing bandanas and dark clothes as they made their way into the home and tied them up. The armed men then forced the couple s children, ages 3, 6, and 7, out of bed and onto the floor.
The family said the men searched for money before forcing them to sign over the title to a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. The suspects then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle and another car.
Despite the violent attack, there were no injuries.
At least part of the crime was caught on a surveillance camera, the family said, but a detailed description of the men was not available. Video from outside the home showed the robbers kicking in a door to get into the home.
Area residents said they are fed up with crime in their neighborhood.
I've lived here 30 years, but we're fixing to move, said neighbor Bill Hillin. I've had enough of this.
Just last May, around the corner from the victim's house on Shayan Court, a man was murdered on his way to work. And in February, the home next door was the scene of a deadly shooting.
The victims in this case own a taco truck business; the husband brings some of the cash from the business home and that's why they believe their residence was targeted.
