BAYTOWN -- There have been a lot of car break-ins in a neighborhood in southwest Baytown. And over the weekend, a car burglar was caught on camera.

One neighbor is fed up with the recent crimes.

After a rash of break-ins up and down his street near the 1300 block of Idaho, Jesse Gomez installed a camera above his garage doors and it has already paid off. Around midnight Saturday, both of his vehicles were broken into.

First, the video showed the thief break into Gomez s wife's van. After the suspect went through the van and doesn t find much, so he moved on to Gomez's truck and stole his work laptop.

Gomez said he always takes his computer out of his truck, but forgot on Saturday.

Baytown police hopes someone can identify this suspect. Officials said it is likely he is responsible for other burglaries in the area. If you have any information on this suspect, please call Baytown police at 281-422-8371 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

Police said car break-ins are the number one crime in the Houston area, but we can all help deter thieves by not leaving anything in our vehicles.
