ALVIN, Texas - Investigators are seeking answers Saturday after a car wreck late Friday night left two children dead and a driver dead with a gunshot wound to the head.

We are looking at all avenues right now, doing a complete and thorough investigation and only time will tell, investigator Dominick Sanders, Brazoria County Sheriff s Office, said.

Deputies said that David Barajas, 12, and his brother, Caleb Barajas, 11, died Friday when a car slammed into a truck they were pushing along County Road 144. They were helping their father, David Barajas, Sr., after his vehicle ran out of gas near their home. A car slammed into their truck from behind pinning the children and their father in between the two vehicles.

Young David died at the scene of the accident while his father and brother were air-lifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, deputies said. Caleb died later at the hospital from his injuries.Barajas did not sustain any life-threatening injuries and his wife and two daughters, who were in the truck during the accident, were not injured.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found that the driver of the car, Jose Banda, 20, was dead behind the wheel with a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators did not find any weapon at the scene that could have been used on Banda.

Deputies said they are awaiting test results and an autopsy to determine exactly who shot Banda. So far they have not named any suspects and do not have the murder weapon.

It s a real tragedy it really is, said Ruben Rodriquez, a close Barajas family friend. I just can t believe it.

Family members said the two boys loved football and enjoyed going to school. David attended G.W. Harby Junior High and Caleb went to Hood-Case Elementary in Alvin.
