TERRELL -- The Terrell ISD Police Department said investigators have found no evidence that a middle school student's death was related to bullying.
Police said a review of facts, including an examination of security video, shows no evidence the child had been assaulted or had any visible indication of physical trauma on her last day of school.
The release went on to say the Dallas County Medical Examiner's autopsy also indicated there were no signs of trauma or abuse.
Zusette Moreno, 13, died on Nov. 30, three days after she was rushed to the hospital. Her family said they believe an incident of bullying led to her death, but Terrell ISD Superintendent Kelly Rodgers said an assault was never reported to police or to the district and there was no evidence of a fight.
Monday, protesters marched in front of the school calling for justice.
The Terrell ISD police said they have shared preliminary information of the investigation with the Kaufman County District Attorney's Office and the Texas Rangers and neither agency would accept the case as they have indicated no evidence of criminal behavior associated with the student's death.
