HOUSTON -- Several people have contacted KHOU 11 News wanting to help an elderly woman whose heaters were stolen.

Surveillance video shows the thieves taking the window heater units from her front yard on Cornish Street near the Heights.

I got scared, Maria Salcedo said when she realized what happened.

The 68-year-old woman has terminal cancer and uses a wheelchair.

Her family said she was hoping to spend her final days at the place she s called home for 30 years.

Her son Carlos Salcedo said the thieves took several units sitting next to her home. He was hoping to install them to keep her warm.

We showed him a list of people wanting to help his mother go home.

I'm impressed, I didn't think people were so nice like that, he said.

The family installed surveillance cameras to help make the home safe.

However Salcedo is now too afraid to go back. She is staying with relatives.

The family is hoping someone will recognize the thieves.

Houston police ask that you call Crime Stoppers if you can help solve the case.
