HOUSTON The head of the NFL was in Houston Tuesday to chat with civic leaders about the possibility of another Super Bowl here.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was invited by the Greater Houston Partnership after Houston was named as a finalist to host Super Bowl 51 in 2017.

Texas owner Bob McNair presented Goodell with a Texans jersey featuring no. 51.

Goodell said he likes Houston s chances, but firstReliant Stadiumwill needsome changes.

This community has a lot of wonderful things going for it. First, you did a terrific job in 2004. You have an outstanding stadium, Goodell said. I know people are looking at how we can improve that stadium, not just for Texans fans but fans that would come to the Super Bowl.

McNair said he hopes to add digitalscoreboards to Reliant soon, which would bring the stadium up to par withothers around the country. They would cost from $10 to $30 million, according to Reliant Management. It's not clear where the money would come from.

I think what we have to do is look at all of our venues and assets and make sure everything is up to snuff, McNair said.

Goodell said the foundation is already there to make Houston a successful host city.

At the end of the day, it comes back to passion for football and love of football, and you have that for sure, he said.

Houston will compete against San Francisco or Miami, whichever city doesn t get Super Bowl 50 in 2016.
