FRIENDSWOOD A grand jury has indicted a Friendswood woman accused of having marijuana in her car when she caused a collision that hurt two officers working a highway maintenance detail last year.
Bond for Laura Michelle Gonzales, 23, was set at $80,000 on two counts of aggravated assault, Sheriff Henry Trochesset said in a statement released Thursday. Gonzales arrest Thursday morning stemmed from an 11:45 p.m. June 7 collision in the northbound lanes of Interstate 45 just north of the Galveston Causeway.
Courtney L. Banks, of the Fort Bend County Sheriff s Office, and James C. Heath, of the Hempstead Police Department, were providing off-duty traffic control in the center lane. Authorities allege Gonzales vehicle struck Banks sport utility vehicle from behind.
