HOUSTON Houston Texans safety Ed Reed turned 35 on Wednesday and his teammates made sure to they celebrated in the right way.

A group of his teammates led by fellow safety Danieal Manning purchased a walker for the veteran safety and presented it to him after practice.

The walker was great. That was hilarious, Texans defensive J.J. Watt said. Ed s been around a long time.

Reed wouldn t talk about his gift, only saying it was a platinum walker . His teammates also pitched in to purchase him a cake in the shape of a Hall of Fame jacket.

He s been doing it for a while and he s one of the best to ever to do it at his position. It s a lot of fun to have a guy like that on your team, Watt said. Obviously, first and foremost is his health, but whenever he can get back out there, we re really excited about the opportunity.

Luckily, he was also laughing when he unwrapped his present.

Some guys don t take it as well as he s been taking it, but it s pretty good, Watt said. He likes to joke about it too. It always makes it more fun when the guy receiving the jokes is playing along.

Reed status for the Sunday home opener against Tennessee is still up in the air. Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said Reed practiced on Wednesday, but was limited.
