HARRIS COUNTY, Texas The owner of a north Harris County auto salvage yard opened fire on a pair of burglary suspects he said were trying to steal rims from his property overnight.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at A-Plaza Auto Parts on Hill Road at Scoregga Lane, according to the Harris County Sheriff s Office.

The yard s owner said he had been staying on the property because of recent trouble with items being stolen.

When he spotted Tuesday night s suspects, he fired several shots at them but didn t think he hit anyone, but police said one of the suspects later turned up at the hospital.

We couldn t tell, we just saw shadows, said the business owner, who didn t want to be identified. If someone s breaking into your place, and you don t know what their intentions are you don t know if they re armed or if they re there to kill you don t know what s in their minds...

The injured suspect was listed in stable condition. The other suspect was still on the run as of Wednesday morning, deputies said.
