The Children s Museum of Houston is greeting fall with Tet Trung Thu, the Vietnamese mid-autumn festival.

One of the most popular holidays for Vietnamese families, it s also called the Children s Festival, Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival and dates back over 3,000 years.

It celebrates when the moon is the brightest in the fall.

Families are invited to visit the museum on September 29 to experience festival activities including a costume pageant, story time with traditional Vietnamese folktales and mooncake tasting.

Watch a live performance of lion dancers and make moon face masks to wear during the festival.

Kids can also make paper lanterns and jumping origami frogs.

Museum hours are Tuesday Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday from12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Admission is $9 per person and Free Family night is every Thursday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m.
