I think everybody is just overwhelmed and verysad, heartbroken, said Capt. Rex Evans with the Liberty County Sheriff's Office. We've had a series of really heartbreaking events here in our county just in the last five to six months.
Neighbors were also saddened to hear the news. Connie Redingder said the baby should have never been left alone with the teen.
Enough can happen with you and I watching our children. You turn your back, something happens, said Redingder. But someone like that, they don't have the capacity to think.
I have a 6-year-old and I have an 8-month-old and that's unacceptable, said Leann Watton, another neighbor.
The exact cause of death is still under investigation. An autopsy will be performed.
