HOUSTON A jury in downtown Houston late Thursday afternoon handed a victory to Dave Wilson -- the Houston Community College trustee accused of faking his residency status.

The Harris County Attorney s Office claimed Wilson didn t really live in a metal warehouse building, which happens to be in the district where he ran for office.

Wilson claims county officials wanted to drive him outbecause he s exposing what he called hanky-panky in the community college system.

Wilson on Wednesday said even he was surprised when he won a strange election to take a seat on the Houston Community College Board.

He chuckled about sending out direct mail pieces implying that an old white guy, as he called himself, was really black. He never expected to defeat a longtime incumbent African-American trustee in a predominantly black district.
