HOUSTON -- A popular restaurant on Shepherd Drive was targeted by thieves. A man broke in and stole a safe with thousands of dollars inside.

It s like someone entering in my home -- this is my home, said Matt Brice, owner of Federal American Grill. This is what feeds my family.

The thief broke in the back door with a crowbar and worked his way right into the safe area of the office, according to Brice.

The crook picked up the safe. In the video you can see him struggling with the weight of the safe. He then took off.

To see something like that ripped out of the restaurant, really it s unfortunate, hard to swallow.

More than $4,000 was stolen and a precious memento.

There is a unique bottle that was in the safe called Pappy Van Winkle, said Brice.

Brice said the money and bourbon doesn t matter.

It s not about the money, it s about the integrity, said Brice. It s about the fact that he s not welcome here, into our house.

If you have any information on the crook, call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
