DALLAS-- Founder of Virgin America, Sir Richard Branson, is in Dallas this week to lead the airline's efforts to get two gates AmericanAirlines is giving up at Dallas Love Field Airport.

Sir Branson is hosting a party Monday night as his company tries to secure the gates. Part ofVirgin's campaign strategy is promoting competition in airfare at Love Field. Southwest Airlines controls a majority of the traffic in and out of that airport.

Two gates became available when American Airlines and US Airways merged. Now Virgin, Southwest and Delta Airlines are congesting for the space.

Sir Branson is expected to host his party at the Rustic and then attend meetings throughout the week, hoping to shore up final support among city leaders.

The city manager will then make a final decision.
