SAN ANTONIO -- Police were in a standoff with a suspect who barricaded himself inside the Roosevelt Inn Motel early Friday morning, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The standoff ended just before 8:30 a.m., nearly six hours after officers were called to the scene.
Investigators said an alleged prostitute and a group of men set up a robbery at the motel. After the 'John' was robbed, police were called to the scene. Later, SAPD said only three people were inside the motel room Friday morning: the victim, the alleged prostitute and the alleged robber.
Officers told KENS 5's Marvin Hurst that the woman was taken into custody; however, the robbery suspect remained inside the room, armed with a gun. He eventually walked out of the motel without incident.
Motel tenants said police evacuated them from the first floor. One woman said she witnessed a woman in room 116 surrender to officers peacefully; however, police did not immediately confirm.
The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of Roosevelt Ave., near Eads Avenue, on the south side.
