HOUSTON High winds created a challenge for firefighters battling a fast-moving fire at an upscale apartment complex in southwest Houston.
The flames broke outjust before 11 a.m. at the Remington Park Apartments located in the 5500 block of South Rice near Glenmont. Thick smoke could be seen from miles away.
Air 11 video showed flames burning through the roof of the apartment units as residents stood by.Seventeen Houston Fire Department units were on the scene and contained the fire to one section of apartments in the large complex.
The utilities were cut at the complex as firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
It was brought under control just after noon. The fire damaged four apartment units, and smoke and water damaged four other units.
Houston Fire Department arson investigators said the fire started in the attic area of the apartment building and ruled it as accidental/ electrical.
No injuries were reported.
