HARRIS COUNTY, Texas A man and woman ran away Wednesday after crashing a pickup truck into a northwest Harris County backyard, knocking out power to dozens of homes. The power was restored, but there was plenty of mess left to clean up.

According to Harris County Sheriff s deputies, the incident happened on Copper Grove Boulevard near Heatherbank Drive around 1:30 a.m.

A Ford pickup truck hit a street light and then flipped through a fence and into a backyard. The truck then hit a utility pole, knocking out power to nearly 50 homes.

Joey Angeles owns the yard buried beneath the debris.

It s not good. My wife woke up and thought the neighbors ran into the garage, said Joey Angeles.

He and other neighbors were startled at what it really was.

I was on the phone this morning, and then all of the sudden I hear a big boom, said Zach Khan. I thought it was just a transformer that went out, I just ignored it. So then I got up to see what was going on, and I see two people running away. It was a guy and a girl. They were just running off the scene. I was like what happened? and I came out here and saw the truck. Everyone came outside.

Witnesses said it appeared the man and woman may have been injured in the crash.

Residents watched as CenterPoint Energy worked past dawn to restore the power, but yet and still, many repairs would need to be made.

Yeah, a lot of it probably will fall on the shoulders of myself and my neighbor here, Angeles said.
