HOUSTON -- State troopers say they found about $2,000 in cocaine in a BMW following a traffic stop in west Houston.

The driver managed to get away on foot, however.

Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety pulled over a newer BMW coupe for speeding near Highway 6 at Briar Forest Drive around midnight Wednesday. They said the driver pulled into a gas station but then suddenly jumped out and took off running.

Troopers along with Houston officers and county constables tried to locate the suspect, but he was never found.

Authorities later found a half cookie of cocaine in the car.
