HOUSTON A pedestrian was killed late Saturday night after they were hit by a Union Pacific train just east of downtown.

Police said the train conductor stopped the train after seeing someone on the tracks near Runnels Street at 11 p.m.

The train could not stop in time before hitting the pedestrian who was killed on impact.
