HOUSTON Metro President and CEO, George Greanias announced on Monday plans to resign from his post on December 31, 2012.
Greanias, a former Houston city councilmember, city controller and management consultant, was recruited as CEO after heading Houston Mayor Annise Parker s Metro Transition Team. He has held the post for the past two and half years.
One of my career highlights now includes my time at Metro and working with a talented group of people who work every day to provide the best transit services for this region, Greanias stated in a news release from Metro.
Metro Chairman Gilbert Garcia said he applauds Greanias accomplishments and looks forward to finding the next leader for the agency.
George has done an outstanding job of turning things around at Metro and focusing on openness and transparency. We look forward to a smooth transition, Garcia stated in a news release from Metro. The Board will meet on Thursday, December 20th,to discuss options for selecting an interim CEO and, ultimately, finding a new president and CEO.
