BAYTOWN -- Firefighters were battling a blaze at the ExxonMobilComplex in Baytown.

The plant is located at 5500 Bayway Drive.

The refinery fire posed no threat to the public and there was no need to shelter in place, according to Exxon officials. They were monitoring the air quality as a precaution.

They said their own emergency response teams were fighting the flames.

Firefighters sprayed water on what appeared to be a burning smoke stack. A few hours after the blaze started the company said its crews were bringing it under control.

ExxonMobil's website said the refinery produces 10,000 barrels of oil a day.

The company said the fire was confined to a processing unit.
