HOUSTON A former Conroe resident pleaded guilty Wednesday to possession of child pornography and conspiracy to produce child pornography.

The investigation into 35-year-old Matthew David Eyerly began in 2006, when FBI officers in Oklahoma, New York and Michigan downloaded child porn that was traced to Eyerly s computer.

On Nov. 9, 2006, officers went to Eyerly s apartment on Wilson Road in Conroe and asked to search his computer.

At the time, they said Eyerly was living with a woman and a child.

They said Eyerly admitted to having child porn on his computer, but said he gave it up, in part due to his new relationship with the woman.

When investigators asked him about the child in the apartment, they said Eyerly admitted that there would be nude photos of the child on the computer. He also allegedly admitted to sexually assaulting the child and photographing the acts.

Investigators said Eyerly told them the assaults happened in July of 2006 when the woman left him alone with the child at a Conroe motel.

Eyerly also claimed the woman had sent him nude photos of the child online.

Investigators said a forensic examination of Eyerly s computer revealed images of the child, as well as other child porn images downloaded from the Internet.

Eyerly s sentencing was set for August 1, 2012.

He faces up to 30 years in prison for the conspiracy conviction, as well as up to 10 years in prison for the possession charge.

Both offenses also carry a fine of up to $250,000.
