HOUSTON Houston firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at a vacant apartment complex just off the Gulf Freeway in southeast Houston Sunday afternoon.
According to the Houston Fire Department, the fire started around 5:15 p.m. in the 3800 block of the Gulf Freeway near Cullen Boulevard.
When HFD arrived at the scene, firefighters fought blaze defensively as the fire was too intense. The building was said to have been vacant for the last 10 to 15 years.
Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion, while battling the blaze. The cause of fire is still under investigation and arson investigators are on the scene.
