HOUSTON -- Police took one man into custody following a lengthy chase in north Houston late Tuesday.

According to officers with the Houston Police Department, a patrol unit spotted a car driving erratically and then running a red light on Ella at Rankin around 11:30 p.m.

The driver allegedly refused to stop, leading police northbound on the North Freeway.

He made several exits but kept getting back on the freeway. The suspect then took Cypresswood, where Harris County Sheriff s Deputies had spike strips out.

With three of his tires flattened, the suspect came to a stop in front of a home on Cypresswood at Enchanted Oaks. Police said the driver backed into a police car before he was pulled from the vehicle and arrested.

One officer drove into the front yard of the home, clipping a tree. No injuries were reported.

Police said the chase lasted nearly 30 minutes. The suspect faces felony evading and DWI charges, police said.
