HOUSTON Houston police are asking for the public s help locating a person of interest wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another Wednesday in southeast Houston.

The shooting happened at about 12:30 p.m. in the 6060 block of Belarbor.

Investigators said Demarcus Harrison, 20, and the shooting suspect, were involved in a fight with several other males. Police said, at some point during the fight, the suspect produced a pistol and fired several shots.

Harrison was struck by the gunfire and died at the scene. Paramedics transferred a second male to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Police said he suffered a gunshot wound and is expected to survive his injuries.

The male suspect fled the scene.

Neighbors said rising tension between family members and friends of the victim and the suspect's family escalated throughout the day.

KHOU photojournalist Scott Stevens was shooting video when a car came plowing through the scene of up to 100 people.

Bystanders had only seconds to get out of the way, but nobody was injured.
