HOUSTON - Metro says a pedestrian was sent to the hospital after he or she was hit by a light rail train in downtown Houston.

The incident happened shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday on Main Street at Lamar.

The victim was conscious and breathing when taken to the hospital, a spokesman for Metro says.

The train was stopped for about 30 minutes following the incident.

Traffic returned to normal around 6:45 a.m.
