HOUSTON An officer responding to a domestic disturbance call in northwest Houston ended up shooting a man who allegedly ignored commands to drop his weapon.

According to officers with the Houston Police Department, it was just before 1 a.m. Tuesday when a 911 call was placed at the Golden Bamboo Village II apartments on Mills Road near Tomball Parkway.

HPD said officers found a woman crying outside in a stairwell. As they approached, a man came out of a nearby apartment with a knife and did not obey commands to drop the weapon, police said.

An officer opened fire on the male suspect, shooting him in the wrist and leg. He was sent to the hospital for treatment.
