CARROLLTON, Texas Carrollton police say the search for a police impersonator who sexually assaulted a woman last Thursday is its top priority.

The attack happened on the northbound side of Interstate 35E between Valley View Lane and Valwood Parkway between 9 and 10 a.m. The victim said the suspect pulled her over in a dark Ford Crown Victoria that had a blue light flashing from the dashboard.

The victim said the assailant was wearing a dark blue long-sleeved shirt and pants, a badge, and even a gold name tag and belt with baton and handcuffs.

The suspect proceeded to get her out of the vehicle and then proceeded to tell her that she had warrants and then bring her back to his vehicle where she was assaulted, said Carrollton police spokeswoman Nicole Rodriguez.

The suspect is described as white, in his 30s or 40s, about 5'-5 to 5'-8 tall. He has a medium build, gray or white short hair and a dark colored short beard.

With the suspect still on the loose, Carrollton police encourage women to call 911 if they're being pulled over to verify that there is an officer in her area and that it is a legitimate stop.
