HOUSTON -- He is a legendary Texas rapper turned adjunct professor at Rice University -- and now author.

Bun B s latest production is a Rap Coloring and Activity Book.

It s nostalgic, says the rapper who will release the Epilogue album in November.

His co-author is Shea Serrano, an HISD science teacher and freelance music writer. He s thrilled to have sketched every illustration.

Bun B s Rap Coloring and Activity Book has been so popular the publisher has already talked about a second edition.

I m a little bit biased, jokes Bun B. I think my picture is the best.

Serrano plotted every page featuring both new and old school hip-hop artists -- a subject that was anything but new to him.

All the people that are in the book are dudes that I listen to, says Serrano. These very famous guys and they see their pictures, and they like it or they tweet about it and they say cool things. It s neat.

Drake s a big draw for younger fans of the genre, but not every page may be suitable for young children. Much like the music there s some material that could be perceived provocative.

We don t want a child sitting around trying to figure out hip hop by itself, says Bun B. We want a person who knows hip-hop take the book and be very discretionary and share it with a child.
