ROUND ROCK The Tomball Cougars got a stellar effort from pitcher Nicholas Banks as they beat Wichita Fall Rider 5-2 to advance to the 4A state title game on Friday night.

Banks tossed a complete game, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 10.

The Cougars trailed 2-1 in the 3rd inning when they jumped back out in front. After they tied the score at 2, Tomball s Eric Dunbar drilled a hit back up the middle to score two to give them a 4-2 lead.

In addition to pitching a great game, Banks went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Tomball (34-4) will face the winner of Corpus Christi Moody and Whitehouse.
