HOUSTON Parts of Houston looked more like the wild West Friday as thousands of trail riders rode into town.

The cowboys and cowgirls needed a little help from the cops when they navigated busy streets and intersections.

A dozen different trail rides came from all over the state with the same destination. They ll set up camp at Memorial Park Friday night before heading downtown for Saturday s Rodeo Parade.

Most trail riders are regulars who come from all walks of life.

Some have been on the trail for a couple of weeks, riding horseback or covered wagons for the journey to Houston.

The annual trail rides are a RodeoHouston tradition that dates back more than 60 years.
