HOUSTON The end of the work week will remain hot and humid with the prospect of slightly cooler weather starting over the weekend.

On Thursday, temperatures will be in the upper 90s and feel as hot as 103 to 106 degrees.

We could actually start challenging some records...The record for [Thursday and Friday] is 99 and we could come close to that, said KHOU 11 News Chief Meteorologist Gene Norman.

A cool front should arrive sometime late Saturday along with a 40-percent chance of showers.

As for the tropics, if the remnants of Isaac reform, the storm will be renamed. Predictions do have it forming into a tropical storm by late Friday just south of Louisiana before a cold front pushes it east to Florida.
