CRYSTAL BEACH, Texas Relatives of a child killed by a rolling log have hired an attorney to help determine how the heavy driftwood got in such a precarious position atop a sand dune.

LaShaun Rae Lovejoy Huff, 3, his teenage aunt Heather Marsh and grandfather Robert Marsh were walking along the sand at Crystal Beach about 3:30 p.m. Thursday when the log shifted and rolled about 4 feet, trapping them.

Heather and her father were injured trying to keep the log from rolling onto LaShaun, the Galveston County Sheriff s Office said. The investigation into whether the tide or heavy machinery put the log atop the dune continued Tuesday, Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo, a sheriff s office spokesman, said.
