HOUSTON Another suspect has been charged in the attempted murder-for-hire of Bellaire socialite Yvonne Stern.

James Lowery went before a judge Monday on a charge of solicitation of capital murder.

Lowery, a tattoo artist, was on probation for a 2008 aggravated assault case.

Police are still looking for Richard Andrew Gutierrez in connection with the Stern case. Lowery told the Houston Chronicle Sunday that he met Gutierrez a few months ago at his tattoo shop. He said he gave Gutierrez a couple of tattoos, including a gang sign.

Police believe both men were hired by Michelle Gaiser, whohas also been charged with solicitation of capital murder in the shooting of Stern, wife of prominent Houston attorney Jeffrey Stern.

Prosecutors said Gaiser, who works for Jeffrey Stern asoffice manager, tried to hire someone to kill Yvonne Stern three times.

In one of the incidents, on April 15, Stern was in her Bellaire home when someone knocked on the door and shot through the glass, police said.

In the most recent incident on May 5, police said Stern was shot in the stomach while in her car at an apartment complex in the 4600 block of N. Braeswood.

Allen said Gaiser has admitted to police that she provided money to have Yvonne Stern killed.

Allen said they also have recordings of conversations between Gaiser and one of the suspected players in the hit.

There were two wired conversations that she had with one of the middlemen in which she talked about an original hit and then having someone else executed also, Allen said.

Jeffrey Stern's attorney told the Chronicle Sunday that his client was having an affair with Gaiser, but was not involved in the murder-for-hire plot.

He was shocked to learn Ms. Gaiser was trying to kill his wife, Paul Nugent told the Chronicle.

Yvonne Stern was seriously injured in the May 5 shooting andis still recovering, family and prosecutors said.

Physically, she is recovering very well, but right now, of course, she is emotionally devastated, Allen said.

Yvonne Stern filed for divorce on Friday, citing adultery.

The couple has two children, ages 12 and 14.
