MISSOURI CITY, Texas -- According to officials at Quail Valley Elementary, ten students were on a bus that was on fire Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened around 3:10 p.m.

Officials said approximately 10 students were taken off the bus in an orderly fashion and there were no injuries.

There was still no word on what sparked that fire.

Quail Valley Elementary sent the following message to parents:

In an effort to keep you informed, I want to let you know that we had a bus fire on the bus ramp at approximately 3:10 today during dismissal time. All students that were on the bus when the fire began were removed from the bus in an orderly fashion and evaluated, as a precaution, by the school nurse.

The fire department was contacted and arrived quickly to our campus to extinguish the fire. All other students were kept inside the school during this incident, and were then released after the fire was extinguished. We regret the inconvenience of their late arrivals home, but their safety was our highest priority.

We appreciate your continued support as we strive to provide a safe learning environment for your student. If you have any questions, please contact the school at (281) 634-5040.
