HOUSTON After 65 years, a Houston landmark is no more.
The old Macy s building, formerly Foley s, was demolished in an implosion Sunday morning in downtown Houston.
The implosion had been planned for months and a nine-block perimeter safety zone had been set to ensure that no one would be injure from the blast.
Adjacent properties took precautions earlier in the week for the implosion by nailing up plywood to protect everything from windows to artwork.
Rail service downtown has been suspended since 9 p.m. Friday, but could be up and running again as early as Monday morning.
METRO said that it will be running it's normal transit services Monday morning.
